Fishing

Fishing is an awesome activity. You can enjoy the beautiful weather, fresh air, and gentle, lapping waves while bonding with your family. If you are looking for the best places to fish in the area, read on to learn about our three favorite fishing spots near Conway, SC.

1. Myrtle Beach State Park

Our favorite place to fish in the Conway area is Myrtle Beach State Park at 4401 South Kings HWY. In this state park, you will find a fishing pier that is perfect for fishing, crabbing, and taking stunning photographs of local wildlife. Some of the fish you can catch from the pier here include drum, blues, Spanish mackerel, whiting, and trout.

Additionally, it is possible to fish for king mackerel, flounder, and spots. Note that you must have a saltwater fishing license if you want to fish from the surf or shore, and you can’t surf fish when there are on-duty lifeguards on the beach. There is no need for a SC fishing license to fish from the pier.

2. Huntington Beach State Park

You also can’t go wrong if you go to Huntington Beach State Park at 16148 Ocean HWY to fish. In this state park, there are three miles of clean, sandy beach that you can fish from. There are also several interior bodies of water throughout the park, including Sandpiper Pond, Mullet Pond, and Mallard Pond.

This state park is also great for birding. You can keep your eyes peeled for shorebirds while strolling down the beach. You can also watch for bald eagles, ducks, and ospreys in the sky from the causeway.

3. Little Pee Dee State Park

Finally, we recommend fishing at Little Pee Dee State Park at 1298 State Park RD. You can fish on the 54-acre Lake Norton for a variety of fish, including catfish, bass, and bream. Most people fish from the 75-foot fishing pier. Besides fishing, paddling and boating are two extremely popular activities that you can enjoy here.

One thing we love about this state park is that you can rent kayaks and canoes here. For just $10 an hour, you can rent a paddle-powered boat, paddles, and life jackets.
