Scenic Ride

There’s nothing quite like getting into your car and hitting the road just for the sake of a beautiful drive. And here in South Carolina, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to breathtaking natural scenery and landmarks. From enormous oaks to maritime forests, mountain views to beaches, this state really has it all. So hop in your Ford and head on one of these scenic drives not too far from Conway, SC.

1. Ashley River Road

Head about two hours south of Conway, and you’ll get to Ashley River Road, an 11-mile route that travels alongside the breathtaking Ashley River. The stretch is littered with gorgeous foliage thanks to the ancient oaks that surround it. Stop along the way at tourist spots like Old Dorchester, the remnants of a colonial village from the 17th century, and the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, the oldest public gardens in America.

2. Edisto Island

For some more rural scenery, head to Edisto Island, where a 14-mile stretch of highway winds through farm fields, maritime forests, and salt marshes. The Edisto Beach State Park is fun for the whole family, filled with trails, live animals, and an Environmental Learning Center. There’s also a picnic area, so be sure to use the Ford Bronco Sport’s mammoth 36.7 cubic feet of cargo space and pack all the baskets and blankets your heart desires.

3. Bohicket Road Scenic Highway

This 10-mile drive is filled with gorgeous scenery and foliage, but it’s perhaps best known for being home to the Angel Oak tree. This tree is over five hundred years old and truly one of the most unique sights in Conway, so make sure you stop for a photo. We recommend doing Bohicket Road in the Fall because the orange and red leaves make for an unmissable scenic experience.

4. Hilton Head Island Scenic Byway

This historic, wetland-filled drive passes through Beaufort County to end up at Hilton Head Island. Crossing the causeway onto the island is a particularly jaw-dropping event, and the island itself presents great opportunities for beach-going, dining, shopping, and playing golf. This drive is a little further out of Conway – about three hours – but with the 2022 Ford Escape Hybrid’s incredible 37 miles per gallon gas rating, you won’t need to stress about stopping to refuel.

Now that you’ve evaluated the options, only one question remains: where to first? Wherever you’re headed, a Ford is the vehicle to get you there. If you’re looking for a new or pre-owned model, or you want to get your current car serviced, our friendly team is here to help you. Come by Conway Ford in Conway, SC, today.
