Mexican restaurants have become ubiquitous in America and it’s easy to see why. From traditional Mexican food to Tex-Mex fusion, there are endless combinations of delicious flavors to enjoy. We have compiled a list of our favorite spots where you can find the best Mexican food in the Florence, SC area.
King Jefe
If you love tacos, then this downtown taqueria is the spot for you. Their taco flavors are delicious and inventive, incorporating ingredients inspired by Mexican, Asian, Creole, and Southern cuisine.
The ‘Dae Han’ taco comes with bulgogi beef, kimchi, and Gochujang spicy mayo if you’re a fan of Korean flavors. Our favorite is ‘The Cheech’, which comes with braised beef, street corn salad, avocado, and pickled onion. King Jefe’s menu also has a mix of sandwiches, bowls, salads, and burritos to try after sampling the delicious tacos.
Zapatas Grill
Zapatas has a large menu of house specialty dishes that are super delicious. We recommend their ‘De La Casa’ special which features a mix of nachos, flautas, tamales, rice, and beans. They also have an extensive lunch and kids menu which makes it a great midday stop for the whole family.
Margarita’s Mexican Restaurant
As one might expect, this place serves up delicious margaritas. They have small, medium, or jumbo sizes to choose from or you can order a pitcher for the whole table. Order some pastor tacos, chimichangas, or carnitas burritos to wash them down with and you are all set for a delicious dinner. As always, please drink responsibly if you plan to partake and have a designated driver or taxi on call.
Don Jose Mexican Restaurant
One of our favorite things about Don Jose is their selection of Mexican Tortas. These delicious sandwiches come with beans, avocado, and french fries and can be stuffed with your choice of pastor, carnitas, chorizo, chicken, and more. Try their huevos con chorizo torta for the perfect weekend brunch entree. If tortas aren’t your thing, they have a full menu with all the classic Tex-Mex dishes as well.
Salsa Y Limon Mexican Grill
This laidback cantina has delicious food for excellent value. You can get 4 tacos for only $10, with fillings like carne asada, carnitas, pastor, grilled chicken, or ground beef. Their fajita nachos combine two favorites into one, layering grilled peppers, onions, meat, and cheese over fresh tortilla chips. We recommend the ‘Bandolero’ entree with marinated rib meat cooked over an open grill and served with street corn, black beans, and tortillas.
Vallarta Bar & Grill
This place makes our list because their menu has so much variety on it. They offer burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tostadas, fajitas, chimichangas and taquitos in every sauce and meat combination imaginable (including vegetarian options). They also serve traditional desserts like fried ice cream, sopapillas, and churros to satisfy any post-dinner sweet tooth.
