Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area

This beautiful lake is just minutes from downtown Conway, making it an easy choice for a weekend getaway. The park features 13 picnic shelters with grills and fire pits, six boat docks, and a boat ramp. The park also offers fishing opportunities for crappie, catfish, and bass, as well as boating with a two-lane boat ramp.

If you prefer spending time on dry land instead of water, there are also plenty of hiking trails along with picnic areas that are perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring the area. This park has something for everyone!

Myrtle Beach State Park

Myrtle Beach State Park is the largest state park in South Carolina, and it’s located just 20 miles north of Conway. The park has over 10,000 acres of land that are open to visitors. There are plenty of activities to enjoy at the park, including hiking trails and fishing in one of the park’s many lakes.

Visitors can also camp at one of five different campgrounds within the park or take advantage of the beach area. There are also many historic buildings within the park that you can explore. They include an old lighthouse and a Civil War fortification known as Battery Marshall.

Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge

Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is a 1,600-acre wildlife refuge located in Georgetown County, South Carolina. It’s a great place to hike, bird watch, and enjoy nature. The refuge was established in 1990 and is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The main attraction at Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is its wildlife: Black bears, deer, alligators, and many types of birds are common sights here. The park includes several habitats, including pine Flatwoods, hardwood swamps, and cypress domes. Bird watching is particularly popular at this location.
