The 2021 Ford Ranger is a midsize pickup truck that offers a robust engine, good fuel economy, impressive tow and haul ratings, and a long list of standard driver-assist systems. New for this model year is the Tremor off-road package, which provides the Ranger with improved off-road capability. Here’s some more information on this capable truck.

Three Trim Levels2021 Ford Ranger

You can choose from three trim levels with the Ranger: XL, XLT, and Lariat. In addition, the Ranger is also available as either an extended cab with a 6-foot bed or a crew cab with a 5-foot bed. Four new exterior paint colors have been added for this model year, namely Cactus Gray, Cyber Orange, Carbonized Gray, and Velocity Blue. Standard exterior features include daytime running lights, halogen headlights, two front tow hooks, and 16-inch steel wheels.

Strong Performance

With its sharp steering, poised handling, and a suspension that soaks up most of the bumps on the road, the Ranger provides a comfortable and controlled ride. If you’re into your off-road adventures, opt for the new Tremor off-road package, which enhances the Ranger’s off-road capability through a range of advanced standard features. These include a lifted suspension with off-road-tuned Fox monotube dampers, 32-inch all-terrain tires, a locking rear differential, and skid plates. You also receive a standard Terrain Management System, which features four selectable drive modes: Normal, Mud/Ruts, Grass/Gravel/Snow, and Sand.

Robust Engine

All Ranger trims are powered by an energetic turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission to provide 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, and an all-wheel-drive system is available. Models equipped with rear-wheel drive offer a fuel-economy rating of 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which are excellent numbers for this class. Four-wheel-drive models deliver an estimated 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. This engine will allow you to tow up to 7,500 pounds.

Comfortable Interior

The Ranger’s cabin provides comfortable seating for up to four or five passengers, depending on the body style you opt for. With the XL trim, you’ll receive basic features such as air conditioning, cloth upholstery, vinyl flooring, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, and four speakers. The two higher trims add many conveniences, such as the easy-to-use Sync 3 infotainment system, which is equipped with an 8-inch display, SiriusXM, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Other features include leather upholstery, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and power-adjustable front seats.

Advanced Driver-Assist Systems

You’ll receive advanced driver-assist systems with the Ranger, as all trims are equipped with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 technologies. The base trim features a rear-view camera, pre-collision assist with emergency braking, trailer-sway control, and AdvanceTrac with roll stability control. With the higher two trims, you’ll receive added systems such as blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, a lane-keeping system, and a reverse and forward sensing system.
