Conway, SC, provides families with plenty of kid-friendly activities loaded with fun and excitement. 1. Discover the Natural Wonders of the Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area

Take the kids to explore the pine woodlands and coastal wetlands in the breathtaking 325-acre Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area, adjacent to the vast Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge.

Walk through woods along the boardwalk, hike down miles of interpretive nature trails, or head out on the mountain bike trail. The  Waccamaw River is a great spot for fishing and paddling, and the scenic picnic areas are ideal for relaxing after a day of exciting outdoor activities.

The Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area is on Gary Lake Boulevard in Conway and is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

2. Visit the Fascinating Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach

The whopping 87,000 square-foot underwater world of Ripley’s Aquarium is home to an array of our planet’s aquatic creatures. Surround yourself with menacing sharks swimming through the 750,000-gallon Dangerous Reef, watch brilliantly colored fish through an enormous window at Rainbow Rock, and see and touch a variety of rays in Ray Bay from multiple viewing platforms.

Stand in awe of the Earth’s oldest living ecosystems and discover the colorful and extremely poisonous dart frogs, graceful freshwater stingrays, and fierce piranhas living in these tropical waters.

The Ripley’s Aquarium is at 1110 Celebrity Circle in Myrtle Beach and is open 365 days a year from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

3. Enjoy Thrilling Water Rides at Myrtle Waves Water Park

The humongous 20-acre Myrtle Waves Water Park has over one million gallons of water fun and is the largest in South Carolina with the biggest wave pool. Kids have a blast sliding down the Rockin’ Ray that provides intense tube fun, riding the waves in the Tsunami, and flying down the Riptide Rockets and Turbo Twisters.

Little water babies will have fun playing at the interactive Saturation Station, where they can splash in the shallow water and run through the fountains. Of course, the park has loads of other exciting attractions, play areas, and lots of yummy eats and treats.

Myrtle Waves Water Park is at 3000 Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach and is open daily between Match and October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closes at 8 p.m. on weekends.
