If you’re a resident of Conway, SC, you don’t have to travel too far to enjoy world-class tourist attractions. There are some amazing places to visit in under an hour’s drive. Let’s take a look at some great places you can drive to.

1. Myrtle Beach Promenade

Myrtle Beach is one of the best seaside tourist destinations in the world. If you want to enjoy soaking in the atmosphere of this great destination, look no further than Myrtle Beach Promenade. You can walk on over a mile of the boardwalk, enjoying the atmosphere and a range of festivals and events during the tourist season.

Driving to Myrtle Beach Promenade from Conway will take around 35 minutes. Lots of parking is available in the area.

2. Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge

Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge showcases the best of South Carolina wildlife. It covers 55,000 acres and offers a wide range of walking trails. There is also a visitor center, and events are held at the refuge throughout the warmer months.

You can find this refuge on West Cox Ferry Road, just outside of Conway. If you’re driving out of town, the 2023 Ford Explorer Limited is rugged enough to take you on the journey.

3. Alligator Adventure

North Myrtle Beach isn’t just for seaside attractions. It’s also home to a range of other great tourist destinations, including Alligator Adventure. This sprawling park is a perfect spot for the entire family. At Alligator Adventure, you can get up close and personal with a range of animals, including crocodiles and flamingos.

Be sure to bring your camera along to take a few snaps! It will take around half an hour to drive to Alligator Adventure.

4. The Pier at Garden City

The Pier at Garden City is another great local attraction. The 668-foot pier allows you to get great views of the ocean. And if you visit during the tourist season, you can enjoy live music played on the pier!

This attraction is located on Murrells Inlet, around a 40-minute drive from Conway. The pier is surrounded by restaurants and cafes if you’re looking for a bite to eat before returning home.

5. Conway Riverwalk

Prefer to stay local? There are some great attractions right here in Conway. One of the best is Conway Riverwalk. This pleasant pathway was built during a regeneration project in downtown Conway. Now, visitors from far and wide come to stroll by the river and enjoy the many restaurants on the riverwalk.

You can access the Riverwalk off 2nd Avenue. Keep your eyes on the river, and you might be lucky enough to see a range of birds and other wildlife.
