Hiking trails

Sometimes, the stresses of urban life can really get to you. Especially in this modern world, the constant barrage of noises, people, and lights can wear you down. When this happens, we find it’s best to head out in nature for a while and give ourselves time to relax with only natural sounds and sights. Luckily, within just a short drive of Conway, SC there are tons of amazing hiking trails where you can lose yourself in the wild.

Crabtree Swamp Walking Trail

Although a swamp might not sound like the most beautiful of places, Crabtree Swamp is one of the finest walks you can take in the area. It’s not so much a swamp as a collection of lakes, and as you take a hike along the serene 1.5-mile path, you will encounter some absolutely phenomenal views. In places, you will be overshadowed by some towering trees, and in others, you are treated to wide, open views of the lakes.

Lake Busbee Walking Trail

Lake Busbee itself was created in 1966 to cool a local steam-powered electrical plant. The power plant got decommissioned in 2012, so you don’t need to worry about pollution, and now the lake makes for a beautiful hiking trail. Encircling the lake is a charming 2.3-mile trail which you can either walk around or bring your bicycle.

The area is home to a small population of alligators; however, these are a rare sight. If you get lucky though, you might see one or two pop their noses up out of the water.

Conway Riverwalk

A serene walk just outside of Conway town, Conway Riverwalk takes you alongside the black waters of the famous Waccamaw River, highlighting its history in the lucrative tobacco trade. The spot is popular among duck hunters and fishermen, and also makes for a great place to relax and watch these people as they partake in their favorite pastime.

Along with the beautiful trail, Conway Riverwalk also features playgrounds and recreation areas for children to enjoy. Remember, however, the area (and your children!) can get quite muddy, so make sure to come here in your new Ford EcoSport, with its stain-resistant ActiveX seating.

A good walk in the wild is great for melting away the stress of modern living, helping you get your thoughts together, and reuniting that lost bond with your family. These are some of our favorite spots, and we’d love to hear how you liked them, so drop by Conway Ford to let us know how your day out went, and while you’re here, you can browse our selection of exciting new and used cars.
