2022 Ford Edge
The Ford Edge fits in the mid-size SUV market, but it has two spacious rows instead of a third row like many others. For 2022, a Black Appearance Package arrives for the SE trim, and the SEL now offers the option for an Adventure Package. Ford also adds some new optional accessories, such as a safe that mounts to the center console, and there are some new exterior color options available.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Edge is the SE. It has 18-inch wheels and LED headlights, but adding the new Black Appearance Package gets you 19-inch gloss-black wheels and black badging. The SEL adds 18-inch split-spoke wheels and heated side exterior mirrors, while the ST-Line has 20-inch black wheels, LED signature lighting, black exterior trim elements, and body-colored bumpers. Step up to the Titanium for 19-inch wheels and a hands-free liftgate, or check out the performance-based ST for 20-inch black-painted wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and black exterior trim elements similar to the ST-Line.
Engine (Power)
All Edge models except for the ST get power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gas engine. This powertrain puts out 250 horsepower. The ST bumps up the power with its 2.7-liter V-6 turbo with 335 horsepower. The V-6 works with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and the 2.0-liter gets an eight-speed. Both come standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
The four-cylinder has plenty of power to propel the Edge up to highway speed and give the driver confidence when passing. The ST's V-6 is even better and will move the Edge with ease, even if it has a full load. The ride stays comfortable in the Edge, and the cabin stays quiet, even on the highway.
Interior
There's room for five in this crossover. It has 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place, and this expands to over 73 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. Dual-zone automatic climate control and cloth upholstery come standard, with simulated leather in the SEL along with power-adjustable and heated front seats. The ST-Line adds red accent stitching, while the Titanium adds leather upholstery and extra power adjustments for the driver's seat. Ford offers an optional Lux Package with heated rear seats and ventilated front seats for the Titanium.
Technology features start with an impressive 12-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo system. The SEL offers navigation, a 110-volt power outlet, and wireless charging, or you can get wireless charging as a standard feature in the Titanium. Some additional tech features that Ford makes available include a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system and navigation for additional trim levels.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Edge comes standard with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver aids. The group includes automatic high-beam headlights, a blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning with mitigation. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is an available option; it adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. Front parking sensors come with the Titanium, and you can get an automated parking system with the optional Lux Package.
