2020 Ford Ranger
If you're looking for a versatile and capable midsize pickup truck, the 2020 Ford Ranger should be at the top of your list. It's available in three trim levels that, along with a choice of optional packages, ensures there's a Ranger model to suit you. Whether you use it for work or play, the Ranger comes adventure-ready.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Offered in XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, the Ranger comes as a stylish SuperCab with a 6-foot bed or the spacious SuperCrew cab with a 5-foot bed. XL models feature black steel bumpers, a black grille, automatic headlights, daytime running lights (DRL), 16-inch silver steel wheels, black wheel lip moldings, four cargo tie-downs, and a cargo lamp.
The XLT trim adds color-keyed bumpers and wheel lip moldings, front tow hooks, a silver grille surround, fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, power door mirrors, and a power locking tailgate. Stepping up to the Lariat trim gets you a chrome-accented grille, LED headlights, fog lights, and DRL, 18-inch wheels, and color-keyed power-folding heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and approach lights.
Engine (Power)
Under the Ranger's hood is a powerful and responsive 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger. It delivers 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels or the available all-wheel-drive system via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Depending on the configuration, the Ranger has a maximum payload of 1,860 pounds and a towing capacity of up to 7,500 pounds. AWD models feature electronic shift-on-the-fly that lets you choose between 4x4 high or low, or two-wheel drive for the highway. Opting for the FX4 Off-Road Package gives you four drive modes — Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts, and Sand.
Interior
The well-equipped cabin of the XL features durable vinyl flooring, cloth seating, bucket front seats, a rear bench with under seat storage, a flow-through center console with floor shifter, air conditioning, a 2.3-inch productivity screen, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and front and rear 12-volt power outlets.
For connectivity and entertainment, the XL has a 4G Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, a smart-charging USB port, and a four-speaker audio system. The FordPass Connect app enables you to access vehicle functions from your mobile device.
XLT models have color-coordinated carpet and floor mats, cruise control, a 4.2-inch productivity screen, and a 110-volt power outlet. You also get the Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, voice activation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio.
Stepping up to the top-of-the-range Lariat gets you intelligent access with push-button start, leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, dual 4.2-inch productivity screens, ambient lighting, and a leather-bound steering wheel.
Safety Features
The Ranger's standard Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, curve control, trailer sway control, an SOS post-crash alert system, and a rearview camera. The XLT has a reverse sensing system, blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and trailer monitoring, and automatic high beams. Lariat models add a forward sensing system, a lane keeping system, and an automatic dimming rearview mirror. You can also opt for adaptive cruise control and rain-sensing wipers.
