2020 Ford F-250
The Ford F-250 received some updates for the 2020 model year that help make it the most capable truck on the road. The refreshed pickup has a new V-8 gas engine in its lineup, and the optional diesel engine has a new 10-speed automatic transmission. A new Tremor Off-Road Package makes an appearance, and the base XL is now eligible for several of the advanced driver aids. Here are some more details for the 2020 Ford F-250.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The XL is the entry-level F-250. It has 17-inch steel wheels, manually telescoping mirrors, a 7/4 pin connector, and a trailer hitch receiver. The XLT adds heated side-view mirrors and remote keyless entry, while the Lariat has chrome steel bumpers, halogen fog lights, and tow hooks. The King Ranch has two-tone lower accent paint, PowerScope mirrors, memory mirrors, and a remote tailgate release. Stepping up to the Platinum gets you LED fog lights, quad-beam LED headlights, LED box lighting, and a remote tailgate release. The top-level Limited model has a twin-pane moonroof and the option for LED roof clearance lights.
Engine (Power)
Power for the F-250 comes from a 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine or the new 7.3-liter V-8 with 430 horsepower that gets 475 pound-feet of torque. Also available is the third-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 engine gets 475 horsepower and delivers 1,050 pound-feet of torque. A new 10-speed automatic transmission comes standard with the 7.3-liter gas engine and the diesel.
Performance
With a conventional hitch, the F-250 can tow up to 21,000 pounds when equipped with the gas engine and up to 24,200 pounds with the diesel engine. With a gooseneck hitch, this pickup can tow up to 37,000 pounds. The new Tremor Off-Road Package makes this truck more off-road-ready, adding 35-inch tires, a 2-inch front lift, and best-in-class water fording of up to 33 inches.
Interior
Ford designed the Super Duty cabs for comfort and convenience. The lower trims have the basics with luxury features added to the higher-end models. Some of the available features include heated and cooled seats, massaging front seats, and a 10-way power adjustment feature for the driver's seat. The King Ranch model and above have premium leather upholstery.
The Sync 3 infotainment system comes standard on the XLT model and above, and all trim levels now come standard with in-vehicle Wi-Fi that can connect up to 10 devices. USB type-C charging ports are now available, and you can also get navigation, satellite radio, and wireless device charging.
Safety Features
All of the F-250 trucks come with a rearview camera, trailer sway control, and AdvanceTrac with roll stability control. The 2020 trucks offer the option to add several driver aids such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring that works even when towing a trailer, and lane departure warning. A 360-degree surround-view camera is also available along with a 180-degree forward view camera. The pro trailer backup assist system makes it easier to negotiate trailers, and trailer reverse guidance provides steering suggestions when moving backward.
