2020 Ford Escape
For 2020, the Ford escape has been fully redesigned with sleek, head-turning exterior styling and a spacious new interior. The Escape is available in S, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium trim levels with front- or all-wheel drive. And, with a choice of two gas engines and hybrid or plug-in hybrid options, you can configure your Escape to suit your lifestyle.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The stylish S trim features LED signature lighting, daytime running lights, silver front and rear skid plates, 17-inch steel wheels, power mirrors, a body-color rear spoiler, and dual chrome exhaust tips. SE models add alloy wheels, chrome trim, rear privacy glass, and body-color door handles and heated mirrors.
The SE Sport features unique black styling cues and black alloy wheels, while the SEL has fog lights, 18-inch wheels, black roof rails, and a foot-activated hands-free liftgate. Stepping up to the Titanium gets you LED fog lights, and 19-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
Standard power for S, SE, and SEL models is provided by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. A hybrid powertrain is standard in SE Sport and Titanium trims. It features a 2.5-liter engine paired with an 88-kW electric motor to give a total power output of 200 horsepower.
Optional for the SEL and Titanium is a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine delivering 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A plug-in hybrid option will be offered in SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels. Gas engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains use a continuously variable transmission.
Performance
When properly equipped, hybrid models have a towing capacity of up to 1,500 pounds, while the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine enables you to tow 2,000. The 2.0-liter turbo gives you a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The Escape offers selectable drive modes including Eco, Normal, Sport, Slippery, and Deep Snow/Sand to optimize traction.
Interior
In the stylishly contemporary cabin of the S trim, you'll find cloth upholstery and 60/40 split folding rear seats that have a sliding feature to increase cargo space or provide more rear passenger legroom. Features include air conditioning, a 4.2-inch cluster display, a rotary gear shift dial, three 12-volt power outlets, six-speaker audio, and the FordPass Connect app.
SE models offer intelligent access, push-button start, a power driving seat, automatic temperature control, satellite radio and the Sync 3 infotainment system with a touch screen, smartphone integration, and voice recognition. The SE Sport adds a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The SEL features remote start, ActiveX upholstery, memory for driver's seat and side mirrors, and a heated steering wheel. Titanium offers leather seating, a power passenger seat, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a 110-volt power outlet, and a 10-speaker B&O sound system.
Safety Features
The Escape comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology including AdvanceTrac with roll stability control, traction control, curve control, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, a lane keeping system, blind spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, a rear camera, and an SOS post-crash alert system. The SEL adds reverse sensors, while the Titanium has adaptive cruise control and active parking assistance.
